The incarnation of Christ is a cornerstone to the Christian faith, yet is often relegated to a one-day celebration or passing holiday season. As both a christian and a composer, I have been profoundly moved by what God taking on human flesh really tells us about the world around us and God himself. "Fingers and Toes" is a project that attempts to embody this truth.
This creative and powerful response to the prayer featured in famous agnostic, Bart Ehrman's book, "God's Problem," artistically tackles the "problem of pain" by examining what the Incarnation of our Lord really means for our world. Lyrics like, "...I came into your darkness, skin and bones have I. Behold my hands, behold my feet, for what you mean to Me..." will help both performers and listeners view the Incarnation in a new and deeper way this Christmas season.
Perfect for any children's choir this Christmas, "En Mi Corazón" contrasts both the sad history of our King with "no where to lay His head" and the tender joy of inviting Jesus into every "room" of our "corazón." This song features easy-to-hear 2-part harmonies with an optional descant at the end. Feel free to incorporate percussion to add to this festive selection!
Straight from the downbeat, "Rejoice!" delivers an energetic invitation to contemplate and worship Jesus as we remember the advent of our Lord. This selection delicately highlights each voice part as it crescendos into a resounding conclusion. Rejoice this Christmas season with "Rejoice!"
